Aliquam Dapibus Home Klondyke Neighbourhood Watch SEA ROAD TENANTS & RESIDENTS

IRecognising that the community could have significant reason to confront problems other than crime/community safety, the residents of the Sea Road Area (South) decided to form a Tenants and Residents Association.

It was agreed to use an area roughly double in size of the existing Neighbourhood Watch and the Sea Road Area (South) Tenants and Residents Association was born.

Affiliated to FFOTRA, Fife Federation of Tenants and Residents Associations, the members have net regularly, been represented at various FFOTRA, Fife Council, Tayforth Regional Network and Scottish Government events/seminars.

Many of these events have been with regard to the new Scottish Housing Bill and the Tenants Charter, outlining the changes and how they affect tenants, local authority - Housing Association - Private lets, and landlords.

The most recent (June 2011) included a presentation on the proposed changes to the Benefits system, particularly to the Housing Benefit Laws, which are estimated to remove £200 million from the Scottish economy. Fears were expressed that these changes could increase the number of homeless persons as the reduction in Benefit may exclude some claimants from accessing private lets, whilst restricting the size of property within budget available from Local Authorities.

The Association will continue to monitor these proposals and advise Tenants of the current status.

The Association has slowly started a programme of Floral enhancement in their area.

Year 1 saw 1000 crocus planted within the Cul de sac             area.

Year 2 had hanging baskets in Sea Road and 4 large            planters flowering in Keir Hardie Street

Year 3 additional  5 ex-council planters upgraded in            Turner Crescent
